ARSENAL captain Laurent Koscielny has revealed he still cannot EAT or chew after thinking Romelu Lukaku had broken his jaw.
The Gunners defender missed his side's clash with Cardiff tonight after being kicked in the face by the Manchester United striker on Friday.
The 33-year-old was taken off after 64 minutes in agony during the 1-3 home loss in the FA Cup following the horrific accident.
He was rushed to hospital where tests showed he had suffered severe bruising, but had not suffered a bone fracture .
And Koscielny was forced to have surgery on Saturday to remove blood clots in his face, but is expected to return in the next few weeks.
The Frenchman said: "Personally, Friday was tough. When the incident with Lukaku happened, I really thought my jaw was broken.
"It was so painful. I went to hospital and after some tests and X-rays, it showed that, thankfully, it was not broken.
"I was so relieved, but I still needed some surgery on Saturday ti take out all the blood clots created by the impact.
"I still need time to recover because at the moment, I cannot eat or chew. Hopefully I will be back soon."
Koscielny had only recently returned to the Arsenal starting XI after recovering from a career-threatening Achilles injury.
