The NBA trade deadline is officially less than 24 hours away. As the Feb. 7, 3:00 p.m. ET deadline looms, teams are looking to finalize trade discussions and make last-minute moves.
The Miami Heat are reportedly nearing agreement on a deal with the Suns that would send shooting guard Tyler Johnson to Phoenix, in somewhat of a surprising move.
Johnson has been with the Heat throughout his entire five-year career. In 2018-19, he's averaged 10.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 0.9 steals per game. The 26-year-old is hitting 1.6 threes per game at a 35.3 percent clip.
It's currently unclear what the Suns will be sending to Miami in exchange, but Johnson is sitting on a hefty contract, so matching salaries would likely involve a veteran player. Johnson signed a four-year, $50 million deal with the Heat and is set to make $19.2 million this year as well as next season.
Johnson was signed by the Heat as an undrafted free agent out of Fresno State University. He's been a reliable option off the bench for the team during his tenure in Miami.
