Robert Whittaker humbly responds to Israel Adesanya’s recent diss.

Earlier this week, surging middleweight prospect Israel Adesanya claimed that his co-headlining bout with Anderson Silva is the reason UFC 234 sold out in a matter of minutes.

Hometown favorite Robert Whittaker will headline the event opposite Kelvin Gastelum but, according to ‘The Last Stylbender’, Whittaker ought to be thanking him for the pay-per-view points.

“I’m just going to do me, and Whittaker, that’s his Christmas gift for the next five years; [it’s] me being on this card with Anderson that made the show sell out in 15 minutes,” Adesanya told ESPN.

”This show wouldn’t have sold out the way it did without me and Anderson, so he’s [Whittaker] welcome. He gets the pay-per-view points, he gets the accolades and what not. And yeah, good for him, he knows what’s up, even he knows it. So he can enjoy it for the next 10 years.”

Whittaker, as humble as ever, responded to Adesanya at a recent media scrum in Melbourne, thanking the former kickboxer for his contribution to the pay-per-view.

“Thank you?” Whittaker responded. “I don’t know. Yea, it is what it is.”

“Truth be told, almost every time I’ve fought on an Australian card, it’s sold out,” Whittaker told Submission Radio. “Like, before he was on the scene. The super-fight on Sunday is because I’m there.”

UFC 234, which will feature both Whittaker vs. Gastelum and Adesanya vs. Silva, takes place this Saturday, Feb. 9 at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.
