Nigeria 3 Seychelles 1

YFDTv Sport News

The Super Eagles of Nigeria strolled to a comfortable victory against The Pirates of  Seychelles. Goals from Odoin Ighalo, Henry Onyekuru and Moses Simon secured 3 points for the Gernot Rohr’s men in the dead rubber encouter as the Super Eagles already qualified for the 2019 AFCON with this game to spare. Seychelles attacker Roddy Melanie converted from a rare Francis Uzoho blunder to make to cancel out Ighalo’s opener minutes three minutes before half time.

The Super Eagles regained total dominance to see off the East Africans after the break, Henry Onyekuru needed just five minutes to make put the Super Eagles ahead. The Galatasary front man converting from close ranger from an impressive Jammil collins cross.

Francis Uzoho (4/10)

The super Eagles goal keeper could not justify his position as the first choice going into the AFCON. He was largely untested for the whole duration of the game but failed the test with the only chance the East Africans got as he spilled a poor boy to concede a cheap and needless goal.

Shehu Abdullahi (6/10)

FC Bursaspor of Turkey star Shehu had a pretty calm game keeping the East Africans at bay. The wide man supported the attack and kept his cool at the back although he didn’t have much to do.

Kenneth Omeruo (7/10)

The On Loan Chelsea star was as solid as a rock at the heart of the defence to keep out all attacks by the Pirates. He combined well with Troost-Ekong to keep the East Africans at bay. Nigerians can be assured of a viable long term replacement for Leon Balogun in the Leganes star.

William Troost Ekong (7/10)

There was nothing william could do to keep out Uzoho’s blunder. He definitely didn’t miss his usual partner as Omeruo proved his worth beside him.

Jamilu Collins (9/10)

The SC Paderborn 07 of Germany left back was arguably the Super Eagles best player on the pitch. He  produced a man of the match performance with two assists to secure victory.

Wilfred Ndidi (8/10)

Nigeria’s Ngolo Kante kept his head in the game and bossed the midfield for 90 minutes. If Jamilu had not been super impressive, Ndidi would have gone home with the man of the match award.

Oghenekaro Etebo (7/10)

The Stoke City star made sure the East Africans got a taste of his skills and guile as he shone alongside Ndidi in the middle of the park. He was denied a goal as his freekick was parried by the Seychelles goalkeeper.

Ahmed Musa(6/10)

The Super Eagles skipper was quite impressive as usual. His turns and marauding runs kept the Eagles defenders at bay.

Henry Onyekuru (8/10)

Wonderful performance by the Galatasary striker, Henry restored the Super Eagles lead with a well taken effort. The Super Eagles star showed every bit of value for the 15 Billion Naira Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich intend to invest in him.

Alex Iwobi (6/10)

The Arsenal star had a quiet afternoon. The Premier League star was outshone by teammates Etebo and Ndidi in the midfield and was eventually replaced in the 70th min by Semi Ajayi.

Odion Ighalo (7/10)

Ighalo was a permanent thorn in the flesh of the Pirates. He scored Nigeria’s opener by sending the keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot before being replaced by  Moses Simon.

SUBS

Paul Onuachu(4/10)

The FC Midtylland striker came in for Oghenekaro Etebo and did well to influence the flow of the game.

Semi Ajayi (4/10)

The Rotherham United defender came in for Arsenal star Iwobi and despite an averrage showing, he did well.

Moses Simon (7/10)

Super Sub Moses  came in for the Injured Ighalo. The Pirates could not contain the FC Levante of Spain attacker. Moses completed the rout with a well taken goal to secure an infamous victory for Gernot Rohr.
